My Iomega ZipCd 650 USB does not work under the Windows XP platfor

I bought the Iomega ZipCd 650USB CD-RW two years ago and it worked well under Window 98Se Platform. Now I have a new notebook running WindowsXP. I tried to connect the CD-RW to it. It was recognised correctly. Although a logo of CD-rom drive D: was shown, it does not work. The CD-RW does not read any disks(data CD, music CD, Vcd etc) nor write (cd-r or cd-rw). I've tried the Iomega website for problem shooting. The only information I've got is that WindowsXP has got drivers for this device and there's no need to install the driver manually. Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

from the makers site
Drivers are not required to be downloaded. All necessary drivers are
included in Windows XP. This means that your drive will be detected as a
*CD-ROM* drive and, if supported by Windows XP, you *may* be able to burn
CD's using the Windows XP built-in burning software.

what is it listed as in device manager and does it still work on the 98
system

Hi,
I have the same CD-RW and had no problems with Laptop and
desktop PCs and Win98Se, Win2000 Server, WinXP home and
pro, and Win2003 Server.
May be, you need to enable IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service.
In Windows Explore click right on My Computer, next
Manager to open "Computer Management" Console where open
Services and Application / Services; and make IMAPI CD-
Burning COM Service starts Manual or Automatic.
In Computer Management console check also Disk Management
for your CD-RW and its properties. Olso, check this drive
Priperties in Winwows Explore to enable Recoding.

Best, Alex
