My Internet Explorer has ceased working

*click on icon to launch MIE*

*nothing*

*clink on google search tool to open window*

*nothing*

Yet, if I take a windows explorer window and type a URL into the taskbar,
ti works fine. I assume the problem is very close to the surface, as the guts
of things are still working.

Any suggestions?
