My IE 6.0 can't surf the web!

Recently, my Windows XP (home with sp1) IE can't browse the
internet. The network connectivity is fine, my Mozilla
browser is working fine, I can ping anywhere I want.

However, from the IE, I consistently got "The page cannot
be found" for any addresses, like google or yahoo, even
after a reboot, and without other applications running.

I am connecting through DLink router to a cable modem.

Here is the ipconfig output:

Success story.

Thanks Henri and others.

I ran WINIPCFG.EXE (which for anyone else reading this, create a shortcut to
this and place it in your System Tools folder in your start menu)

Indeed my wireless card had an IP address beginning with 192. I released
that card then rebooted and viola!!!!! HP.com is now accessible!

If anyone else reads the page Henri pointed me to, they may notice they can
reach some of the pages that individual reported he couldn't access,
nevertheless, the tip still works.... simply release the IP address for
your network card and reboot, this should fix it.

Many thanks again Henri,

Dave

I am having the same problem; to answer your questions,
yes and yes. I can access the internet with any other
programs, and i can FTP browse through internet explorer,
but only 'page cannot be displayed) for http, even when
hosting a website and using 'http://127.0.0.1'. Pinging
is working fine.

I tried this when I couldn't get IE to open. It worked.
To test with: Disable third-party browser extensions in
Internet Explorer:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control
Panel.
2. Double-click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party browser
extensions
(requires restart) check box.
5. Restart Internet Explorer.
