My double click is not working in Word 2003, help?

I cannot get my double click to work in Word 2003. For example, when opening
a file I have to use single click twice, using the double click button will
not work. It works fine in all other applications. Any help would be
greatly appreciated!
 
You may want to check what your click rate is set at in Control Panel |
Mouse. But even more likely is that you have some Accessibility Option
enabled.

No, that isn't it. No changes were made to any of the accessibility options
when I upgraded to Office 2003 today, from Office 2000.
