"My Documents" Shortcut is blank

G'Day All,

On a Compaq EVO notebook running Win Xp Pro SP2, there are (at least)
three locations that (used to) show 'My Documents':
In Windows Explorer (Explorer bar showing Folders)
On the Start Menu
On the Desktop.

In each location this has been replaced by a 25-space string and so appears
blank.

The target folder is correct, and the (blank) shortcut works ok.

I can easily rename it to 'My Documents', but would like first to understand
how that has occurred.

Does anybody know?

Rightclick open area center of screen and click Properties
Click Desktop tab and click Customize Desktop button
Under desktop icons either click the My Documents icon
or click Restore Defaults.

G'Day Byte,

Thanks for the response, but I would really like to understand how
the situation arose in the first place.
