My Documents - Redirection

Mike

Redirection of Desktop and My Documents set up and working
OK.
I have Documents on a shared start menu.
I would like to stop users having access to files in their
redirected folders when MS Office is not installed on
their workstation. The reason is to stop them
misconfiguring the file associations when they can't open
a Word doc etc.
Tried removing Documents from start menu through registry
key NoRecentDocsMenu when MS Office not present but can't
as AD has key open.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Clear history of recently opened documents on exit

(User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Start Menu & Taskbar)

Do not keep history of recently opened documents

(User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Start Menu & Taskbar)

Maximum number of Recent documents

(User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows
Explorer)

Remove Documents menu from Start Menu

(User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Start Menu & Taskbar)

I need a way of having access to redirected My Documents
when Office is installed and not having access when Office
is not installed.

You can make sure Office 2000 installs with Software Installation with a
Group Policy, and place the setting for folder redirection in same policy
