My Documents icon deleted from desk top

I inadvertantly deleted the My Documents Icon from my desk
top but found it also disapeared from my Explore directory
listing meaning to access my documents I need to manually
search Documents and Settings to my profile.

Any clues how to reverse this?

Also I would like to point the My Documents for all users
to a common folder. Is this possible?
