I have a database that is about 1.4mb. When I tried to compact it, it grew
to 128mb!!! How did that happen? Anyone any ideas? I can't get it back to
its correct size.
TIA

Wayne's question is apropos of course. A couple of other questions:

- Do you have any images in the database? Access is terrible at
handling them.
- Is there a new table with a name like MSYSCompactErrors? If so,
what's in it?

Try creating a new, empty database and using File... Get External
Data... Import to import everything from this one. Does this new
database have the same problem?

I used the Tools/ Database Utilities/ Compact and Repair and it really did
go to 128 mb

John created empty database, imported all the tables forms etc new database
was fine with no problem. No there were no images and no new table with the
name you suggested. Although I'm now back to normal I still would like to
know what caused the problem.
Thanks

Other than to say "something went wrong with the Compact" I have NO
idea.
