Whenever I re-start my PC the My Computer window keeps opening up and I do
not know why.

I recently got a virus on my pc and cleaned it fully using McAfee Virus
scan, and now everything is clean.

I have checked my start-ups and there is nothing in there.

Can anyone help me get rid of this little annoyance.

Thanks

Hi,

What folder does it open to?

Could you please export and post the contents of these keys in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

To do this, start/run regedit, expand the branches to each key (do this one
at a time). Click on the key, then on file/export. Give it any name, then
save to the desktop. Once you have saved both keys, close the registry
editor. Right-click one of the saved files on the desktop, choose edit, it
should open in notepad. Click edit/select all/edit/copy. Open a response to
this post and click in the message text area. Hit ctrl+v to paste the
contents. Repeat for the other saved key, then send the post for
examination.

Hi,

This can be caused by leftovers from cleaning up spyware as well. Try this:

Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab, uncheck the line "restore previous
folder windows at logon". Click apply/ok, do not reboot yet.

Start/run msconfig, on the general tab select the diagnostic mode. Click
apply/ok and reboot at prompted. The folder should not show up now. Rerun
msconfig, put the system back in normal mode. Click apply/ok and reboot once
more. Does this help?

Hi,
I will try that.

Also, I have noticed this mentioned on a previous post.

I had a virus called "ibm00001.exe" and "ibm00001.dll"

Could this be a cause.

Ive scanned my pc and no longer have this. Is there anything else I need to
do?

Could you please export and post the contents of these keys in the

You will most likely make far more of this than I:

The following registry entry may be created to run ibm00001.exe on startup:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Shell
explorer.exe "<path to ibm00001.exe>"

Hi Gerry,

If that value exists, then it should be deleted. It is (theoretically)
possible that this is causing the explorer window issue.

If that is the case, should I delete the entries in my registry

Under command & path I have the following:-

Ok, somehow when I reboot now the window has disappeared.

Thanks Guys.

Now..... the file I had called ibm00001.exe/ibm00001.dll

Was this part of a virus? If so, what virus?

What do these relate to? Now that they have been removed from the registry
am I clear.

Is there anything I need to do/download to make sure I am not infected by
this and to make my pc safe again?

I do regular updates on McAfee Virus scan.

What is your anti-virus programme?

How did you originally discover the Trojan? If you run the Removal tool
originally I would have expected the files and registry entries no longer
to be there.

Have removed System Restore points yet?

Hope this helps.
