My Computer takes forever to open.

For whatever reason, when I double-click on My Computer, the window
comes up with that searching flashlight animation and it takes at least
10 seconds for the drives to actually show up. I have a grand total of
2 drives (my C drive and the DVD drive). Why in the world does it take
so long to display the list of drives?

What kind of network connection do you have ... and do you have any
Synchronize options set dealing with My Network Places sites?

DOes the DVD Drive work? Did you check Event Viewer log for errors?
