my computer not responding

when i try to open my computer the screen comes up but nothing happens
after a while i get the message that the program is not responding
any suggestions would be appreciated
 
I, for one, can't guess what "the screen" is or what program is "the
program". Can you be more specific?
 
i apologise the program is "my computer " when i dble click on the icon the
"my computer " screen comes up but when i try to access one of the files or
drives nothing happens until i get a subscreen say there is no response from
"my computer "
hope tghis clrifies my problem
 
Use System Restore and select a restore point from before the problem
started.
