my comp is rebooting itself from bugchecks

i found that my computer is rebooting from bugchecks??? i
found this out in the event log. it also tells me a dump
was saved. does anyone know how i can get my computer to
stop rebooting itself and fix the problem?

To stop automatic restarts after a dump:

Righ-click 'My Computer'
Select 'Properties'
Select 'Advanced' tab
Push the 'Settings' button in 'Startup and Recovery'; last section in window.
Uncheck the 'automatically restart' box

What do you mean with 'bugchecks'? Scanning for virus? Scanning for spyware?
Installing MS updates?

XP rebooting after doing the latter is quite normal, as some patches require
a reboot to be applied completely (come to think of it, most require a
reboot).
