I am a novice so please bare with me - I have just built my website using
microsoft frontpage2000 - I can use hover buttons with no problem but I want
to use the background from my logo for the hover buttons. I insert a
standard hover button, then add images of the same size in the custom hover
button box, blank out the button text, then save but when I go to preview all
I get is a grey rectangle - I have tried with jpg, bmp, gif (white background
not transparent) but nothing seems to work - I have searched the web for
tutorials and everyone gives the same instructions which I have followed
completely - they are not exactly difficult instructions but it simply wont
work for me. Any geniuses out there willing to come to the rescue of a novice
(please dont be too technical as I might get a bit lost...lol)

Hover buttons are best avoided. Hover Buttons are Java applets, and
Java is no longer well supported by browsers. Java applets require a
Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is installed on the PC. Users of Windows
XP and IE6 will not have the JVM installed unless they download it
from Sun's website.

Use JavaScript image rollovers instead - it sounds as if you have
already prepared the images required (in .jpg or .gif format - never
use .bmp on the web), so search for an image rollover JavaScript.

Thank you. Having read a number of the questions and responses I had come to
the conclusion it was not a good idea to use hover buttons but I do not
understand javascript - as I said, I am a novice and all this java script
leaves me with a headache. I have searched for image rollover javascripts but
I dont understand what I am supposed to do, where I am supposed to insert
whatever I am supposed to insert - it is all chinese to me - I tried to find
one that actually says "Insert your image name here" - "insert your whatever
here", if you see what I mean - none of them do that, they all give you the
script then a load of instructions which will only make sense if you
understand javascript. Does anyone know of a site which really is for a
totally green beginner that practically holds your hand for you???
