My address bar does not work

My address bar does not work. When i hit the down arrow on the address bar
my system lock up. Please help. I have some research i must do. Thanks
 
Problem starts with installing IE security update posted by Microsoft on
4/11. Just do a system restore to take you back to prior to installation of
that update and it will work fine.
 
I'm experiencing IE6 not working too. Even more disturbing, at the same time
I find my regularly used System Restore facility is apparently wiped out!

Any help most appreciated.
