Must Remove Win. Messaging (Exchange32) temporarily

Greetings,
I need to temporarily remove Windows Messaging. I
realize it's a shared file and removeal could cause
conflicts, but it's existence is preventing me from
uninstalling Outlook97, and in effect, Office97.

I could just delete my C:/Program Files/Windows Messaging
folder, but that seems unwise.

I would also like to know how to reinstall it once my
issue is resolved, even if it just involves pulling it
from my XP Pro disc.

Well, I'm pretty stumped at this point. It's been a long time since I used Outlook 97, but my recollection is that it uninstalled better than that.
