Must I mark my partition as active?

Hi,
Need to know when I format my harddisk and created a new
partition, must I mark the partition as active?
Appreciate it if anyone can help me

Do you want that new partition (I guess, a primary one) to be the one that
you boot from? Then yes, you need to mark it as active.
It is then going to be your system partition.
