I just download MusicMatch 10 and noticed that it put mimboot.exe in my
startup. Does anyone know what this does or what it is for?

No, but 90 percent of the stuff programs load like this is unneccessary for
the primary function....disable it (not delete) and see what happens and let
us know.

If you don't miss what Musicmatch deems as so critical it has to be in your
startup menu then don't worry about it.

I disable it and MusicMatch stills seems to open and function normally. I
have sent an e-mail to their support asking why it was placed in the startup
and what it does. If I get a response, I will post it.

A BIG warning... MusicMatch 10 had all sorts of challenges. It
originally imported my library, but would not play. I tried everything to
fix the links, but to no avail. I then deleted everything and tried adding
the tracks back in. It kept giving initializing error as if there was a
problem with my external drive. I tried Windows Media Player and it had no
problem. After rebooting twice, it finally started to add tracks. Now
MusicMatch is fighting with my accelerator.

Musicmatch 10 STAY AWAY!!!
Since iupgraded to it, I haven't been able to logoff from
my limited user account and into administrator account. I
think it corrupted my profile. I'm still looking into it.
Even after uninstalling there is this problem. I'll keep
an eye here and also let you know what Musicmatch's support
says. Although that also looks nonexistent. Yes, Iknow
the paid version has suppport. I have a paid copy so I'll
see how good they are.

Here is the response that I got from MusicMatch explaining mimboot.exe. I
am going to take this opportunity to make them aware of other challenges
that are being encountered. I will post here any response I get.

"Mimboot.exe is introduced in to start up to run as a background thread when
jukebox is closed to watch any music files that you've placed in the
library. Any changes made while jukebox is closed gets updated in the
database. However, when it's idle, it shouldn't be using a lot of resources.
Does it consistently use a lot of resources - cpu? and how much. While it's
in the background, would you open task manager and let me know how
consistent this seems to be."
