Music on the web-Please help a novice

I would like to put a product jingle on a website I am developing. Right now it is a wav file but it is very large.

Can someone help me figure out the best way to get this on the site?

Every body is going to say don't do it but...

page properties > background sound.

As for making it smaller, convert it to either an mp3
or a midi file.

If it's a large WAV file then it will take a long time to load and play.
You should look at converting it to streaming media, such as Real Audio or
Windows Media Player. For Windows Media Player try the Media Encoder at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx

Seriously, background music on web sites is a *big* turn-off for many if
not most people; think if you really want to alienate potential
visitors/customers..

My personal view on *any* website, keep it SIMPLE and to the point. Too
much flashy graphics and sounds and people will just go elsewhere. The web
is a *big* place, make them want to come to you, don't put them off.

I for one won't stay longer than 2 seconds on any site with music playing.
