Music Icons Are Gone

I'm using Windows Media Player as my default mp3 player, but one day, all the
mp3 icons reverted to the ugly system default icons for files that Windows
does not recognize. They still play fine, but I really like to know how to
change them back to the nice media player icons. I've tried using the File
Type Associations menu in Folder Options, but it just doesn't work.

It seems you installed some mp3 playing software which changed the icons and
now you have uninstalled that software. Right-click a mp3 file, choose Open
With and then select choose program. From the list, select Windows Media
Player, check "Always use this program to open..." and click OK.

Sorry, but I already tried it, and that doesn't do anything. Are there any
Registry tricks to solve this?

I typed in <rundll32 mydocs.dll,PerUserInit> but it didn't do anything. What
could be causing this? It's not a big problem, but it is pretty annoying
since I'm usually able to solve any problems on my computer. Will I have to
reinstall media player entirely?
