Music editing advice needed.

Hi,

I'm building a website for a local jazz & swing band.

My client has supplied me with a CD full of CDA tracks and I would like to
include a selection of 30 second snippets as samples on the website.

In summary I'd like to trim and convert CDA files into 30 second WMA or Real
Player files and would like some advice on what software I should be using.

I'd preferably like some freeware or shareware as I won't be doing this kind
of work often enough to justify me purchasing a package.

I think you mean http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/

Sony bought Sonic Foundry out some time ago. Also, IMO one
would be better investing in Cubase SE.

In fact, Sony hired over all of the Sonic Foundry developers when they made
the purchase. The products that Sonic Foundry produced are still every bit
as good.

There's little doubt but that Sonic Foundry was the industry leader in this
kind of work, and the same software under the new Sony brand continues that
tradition. I use Vegas for all of my video work, and it just continues to
get better with each new version.

A really easy solution might be to get...

musicmatch

it has a record feature that is really cool. You can record parts from your
cd to your harddisk and even choose some of the formats to record too. If
the format you need is not supported it would probably be pretty easy to
find a freeware converter. I know to records to mp3... wva and wma.

If think the version of MusicMatch that has the recording feature is about
$20 or so.... or at least that is what I remember paying for it....
