Multiple symptoms

XP Home edition, Dell Dimension, 3 user accounts. All accounts report low
virtual memory and or pagefile missing during logon. Hit OK sysem bots to
desktop background screen only and hangs. Ctrl+alt+delete brings up task
manager but only a few processes running. Cannot boot into safe mode and
have run setup again and chosen to repair existing installation but same
problem.

If a Repair setup is failing, you should consider doing a setup, choose
advanced options of a new install, and create a different windows folder
(e.g. winxp, or whatever) Then 'take ownnership' of your old data files, and
reinstall all apps.
