multiple personal folders

P

Paul

HI,
I have multiple "Personal Folders" directories in my Outlook 2007. The
reason is probably that I imported several old archive. Is there a way to
fuse or merge these directories? Or perhaps move the contents to one and
than delete the other empty one?
Thanks

You can copy and paste from one folder to another. You can then close any
folder that isn't your default (unless you corrupted your profile by
importing a PST file).

P

Paul

Uh Oh.
I am afraid that is what I did, importing pst files. What do I do now?

That doesn't necessarily mean you corrupted your profile. Just see if you
can close any of the folders that aren't your default.

Sorry, what exactly do you mean by 'close a folder'. delete?

No. Close.
It's in the Context Menu for any Personal Folders file that is not your
default.

OK. I appreciate your patience. Now, there is only one 'personal folders'
that I cannot close (option greyed out), so I would expect this to be the
default; however new mail goes to the inbox of one of the other 'personal
folders'.

Close Outlook and try removing the file in Control Panel-Mail-Data Files.

Not possible. You cannot close the Personal Folders file which you have
designated as your default.

What I don't understand is, shouldn't incoming mail be delivered to the
inbox of the default personal folders? It is not in my case.

It must be. It cannot be otherwise. If it is appearing elsewhere there must
be a rule moving it. Either that or you have a corrupt profile or different
mail accounts in this profile that you haven't told us about.
