My laptop connects to my home peer to peer network, and the office
peer to peer network succesfully. However both systems require
different internet settings. Specifically the work one requires to
connect via a proxy server, the home does not. I assumed different
Windows user names would allow me to have different settings but it
does not.

Any ideas, or do I have to manually change this setting everytime?

These programs let you store multiple network configurations and
switch between them easily:

MultiNetwork Manager
