Multiple Networks (Dual NIC config)

The client's current network uses a dial up Cisco router to connect to a
corporate intranet. Multiple workstations share this VPDN connection to use
a certain software package. (agonizingly slow of course, but is the only
option and must not be disturbed.)

Client wants broadband internet access with no changes made to the current
network. My plan is to put in a broadband connection and a separate router.
Each workstation will connect to that router through a second NIC. I
haven't done a configuration quite like this before and am trying to
anticipate any possible problems and configuration issues.

Is it necessary (or preferable) to turn off DHCP on the broadband router and
set static IP addresses for NIC2 in each workstation so as to permit setting
a default gateway pointing to the broadband router? (Otherwise, I'm not
sure how Internet Explorer and other Internet application traffic would be
directed to the right network.) Will this cause any potential problem with
the first network which basically runs one application?

Thanks for any advice.

Addendum. It occurred to me that I rushed by DNS in thinking about this.
Is it a matter of setting the DNS to first the VPDN and second for the
broadband provider. As I understand it, even with multiple NICs DNS is
global. How do you set this using the 2 NICs - same on both?
