Hey Excel PowerUsers...

I want to have 2 different instances of Excel running simultaneously (just
like Word) that will let me have one XLS file running independently on one
monitor and a second XLS file running indepently on a second monitor.

All of the help documentation I've found on the matter speak towards having
separate taskbar buttons representing the 2 files...however, doing that only
allows doesn't give me 2 different independently running instances...

Is there a way to do this?

Here is a link on running multiple monitors.

Generally speaking you probably do not want to run multiple instances of XL.
If you do that one instance knows nothing of the other. Copy and pasting
between instances does not work as you would expect along with other
problems...

I've been able to do what was described in the tutorial...but there's no way
to have mulitple instances for 2 unrelated workbooks? Though I understand
your logic in potential difficulties, it still seems silly that you can't do
that...

Anyway, thanks for the help.

You start 2 instances from the Start menu or the Quick Launch Bar. You
cannot start a second instance by double clicking a file.

I do this every day. It's very simple. You start two instances of XL from
the XL icon on your Desktop, Toolbar, Start Menu... Copy and paste is not a
problem.
