Multiple IMAP accounts?

Is it possible to have more than one email account connection (different id,
pw of course) from one Outlook 2003 session to a single IMAP server? I have
no problems with different individual accounts on multiple servers (POP3 or
IMAP).

If "YES", how? If "NO", is the problem with Outlook, AOL (IMAP service
provider), or the IMAP protocol?

Every IMAP account will get its own folder set. That's not configurable.
Since IMAP accounts keep all messages on the server, Outlook mimics the
contents of the server on your PC to improve performance. If you were to
put messages from multiple IMAP accounts in the same PST, there'd be no way
to keep the contents of the multiple servers distinct from one another.

Thanks, that makes sense. Taking it to the next stage, can I have 2 imap
connections to the SAME AOL imap service, each with its own PST, in one
Outlook session? This is where I'm having trouble - in fact, I can't get it
to work even with different Outlook sessions open at the same time in 2
different user logons on the same PC.

If they have different credentials (usernames/passwords), then I believe you
should be able to have two IMAP accounts open. It should be no different
than if they were on separate servers.

What are the symptoms of the trouble you're having? You haven't given a
very detailed description of the problem. I just set up two IMAP accounts
both referencing the same server but using different usernames and
passwords. It worked fine for me.

Clearly there was something wrong with my initial setup, too many interacting
PSTs for a start. As a result of your comment, I reinstalled Outlook for AOL
only, allowing only 2 PSTs per profile. All the AOL accounts can now share
common contacts by synchronizing with Outlook using one additional PST
common to all profiles, ie. now each profile has 3 PSTs. Other POP3 and IMAP
accounts have been added since - and everything works.

Thanks again for your help.
