Somewhere over the years, Microsoft has reduced the hidden code feature,
making it barely of any use at all. I have documents that I use for
templates to create repetitive reports. There are hidden codes there from
reports gone by that continue to haunt me, popping up during copy/paste or
deletions. Text will change font, for no apparent reason.
The headings codes are hidden too. Sometimes a heading will change out of
the blue and appear on an unrelated document that I have used a base
document. They can also just disappear entirely if I delete text to the end
of the page.
Why doesn't Word allow me to see all the codes and what is going on behind
the text so I can avoid these frustrations. I am about to switch to
WordPerfect, I kid you not.
