terminate the application.

After clicking OK for all of them, the computer works normally and allows me
to go into whatever normal functions I usually do, such as open programs or
access the internet.

I have kept this computer updated with all of the downloads from Windows,
but none of these notifications go away. They only appear whenever my desktop
is loading after I start the computer.

I have considered restoring the computer to factory settings with the
service disks that came along with my computer, but whenever I insert them
and press "Install", a notification appears saying "Setup cannot continue
because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on
the CD. Warning: If you decide to delete the newer version of Windows that is
currently installed on your computer, the files and settings cannot be
recovered."

What should I do to stop this problem from occurring again?

Thanks in advanced for the help!

My reaction is you have a malware infestation.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
1.36 -freeware (if you upgrade you pay).
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Run Malwarebytes' and turn off your current anti-virus
before you do to avoid a conflict. Disregard the invitation on the web
site regarding the Registry Optimiser -a Registry Optimiser is not a
helpful utility.

Run in safe mode if normal mode is too difficult.

Hope this helps.

Your issue is a prime example of why good registry cleaners are needed.
Don't listen to the others who say registry cleaners are "snake oil". To fix
your issue automatically, Use my Remove-it software, it will remove that
malware from your system. Choose yes for all options when prompted. Download
it here http://www.ms-mvp.org/ then download CCleaner from here
http://www.ccleaner.com/ install it and when you run it select the registry
icon on the left to clean your registry. Let it fix all but choose to backup
when prompted. Your problem should then be fixed.

There is absolutely no need to "restore your computer" to fix this.

Your computer has been infested with malware, which has been partially
remvoved. Your anti-virus removed the files, but not the launcher
references.

You can manually remove the launcher references quickly. Open MSCONFIG,
and you'll find all the references and where they are in the registry.
Open Regedit, go to that location, and delete them.

There's no guarantee that your system isn't still infected otherwise.

Your install CDs, by the way, have an older service pack than you have
installed, and that's why you see that message. If you plan to use your
install CDs, the first step is to make sure ALL of your data is backed up to
another drive.

Hi Patrick

Your solution for running anti-malware was brilliant resolved this
error entirely after a very frustrating day of half my pc programs not
working especially all the MS ones! It eradicated a gotomypc.exe found
in my Documents and Settings area - ouch - so much for Norton
antivirus!

So thanks a million!
