multiple emails- hundreds of them

I have a user who is using XPPro SP2 and Outlook 2K. There are a few emails
in various folders that will replicate themselves hundreds of times. She
deletes them, and maybe next day, maybe next week, they are back again.
What causes this?
 
I have the same problem using Outlook 2003, also with XPPro SP2. Anybody
know what causes and how to solve? thanks
