Multiple attachments Different file names, Same Content

Outlook 2003 Rel 11.6 SP1

PROBLEM:
Multiple attachments in an email will display different file names, but the
content is identical to the first attachment.

A person1 had an email with 3 attachments. She selected two of them and
forwarded them to person2 to have CDs burned.

Person2 opened the email and saved the attachments locally before burning
them to disc.

The person1 opened both files from the burned CDs and they were identical in
content.

Another instance. A person sent 10 PDF files to a client. The client
received 10 individual files, with different file names.

But when they opened it, the content was identical or duplicates of the
first file.

I think Outlook is messing up when it tries to grab these files and attach
them to emails. It is losing its place and grabbing the same file multiple
times and adding a different file name to it.

That sort of thing can happen if Outlook's secure temporary folder gets
full. When you open file attachments that are considered safe, Outlook
2003, as an extra precaution, places these attachments in a subdirectory
under the your
Temporary Internet Files directory. The name of the new subdirectory is
unknown, is randomly generated, and takes on the following form.

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\OLKxxx

Try navigating to this folder and deleting it's contents.

Attachments remain in the Outlook Secure Temporary File folder when you exit
