If it's only media and picture files, you can search for a good duplicate
finder on the web - and use it only for media and picture files (don't even
try and delete others - you'll just cause yourself problems).
The issues you should be aware of are:
1) That each filename isn't unique - unless they're in the same folder (you
can have dog.jpg in one folder being a picture of your dog - and then have
dog.jpg in another folder being a picture of your cat.
2) That you can rename the same picture many different ways (you can have
the same picture of your dog named as dog.jpg and Fido.bmp). This makes for
problems when finding duplicates.
Consider these things when selecting a duplicate finder. Oh, and don't
spend a bunch of money on one without asking around for opinions on it.
There's a lot of good freeware applications out there that don't cost a thing!
Be very careful that you're sure only to delete the dup's with certain file
extensions only relating to media and pictures (such as .jpg, .bmp, etc)
Then, just to be sure - don't delete them. Just move them to another
location on your computer (such as a new folder on your desktop). Leave them
there for a couple of weeks - just in case you need them. If, after a couple
of weeks, you still don't need them - then delete them to the Recycle Bin.
That way they'll still be available for a while longer.
