Multimedia program runs intermittently in Win XP

I have a multimedia program (with sequences of voices, music, etc.) that runs perfectly well in all Windows (95, 98, ME, NT, 2000) but only runs intermittently in Win XP. Do I need to turn off certain other programs (services?) in Win XP to play games and multimedia programs?

Thx.

No. You should be able to play your media clips in Windows Media Player, or
whatever you are using, and do other stuff too. XP is capable of
multitasking. Do you have enough system horsepower to do everything you
want to do?
