Have reinstalled windows XP and in checking with device
mananger found that Multimedia Audio Controller not
installed. Have tried every but no luck thus far. Any
suggestions?

"Multimedia Audio Controller" means that XP recognises that you have a sound
card, but has no driver for it. You will have to install a driver for it
yourself. Download the driver from the manufacturer's website and install
it.
