I have a database that I've split into a front end database on my desktop and
a back end database on a shared directory. I also have 3 Excell files in the
shared directory. My desktop application is linked to these also. Whenever
I have another user try to get in, they get a message that the Excell file is
opened exclusively by another user. I have made the three excel files shared
files. Any suggestions would be great.

Hi jj,

What is in the Excel files? Arey you able to simply import the data from
your Excel files into tables in Access to get around this problem, or is it
more complex than that?

just curious.. have you tried setting the readonly bit on the 3
spreadsheets?

you could either upload everything to sharepoint and then right-click
LINK..
or you can import it into a database

but Excel is a waste of space; I would fire anyone that uses it for
anything for any reason

and then spit on them
