multi-select file dialog

Good morning,

I'm looking for a method to have a dialog open where my users can select 1
or many files within a folder/directory and then process their selection one
file at a time.

how can this be done?

Thank you,

Daniel

Appearantly I spoke too soon. Although I found an answer I can't seem to
get it to work properly. For some reason it return values such as 4'477
files were selected in folder' when I only selected 3 files?

Does anyone have this code in a functional state so I can figure out what is
wrong.

Thanks.

Daniel

I have isolated the problem problem to the fact that the

strFiles = GetOpenFileMulti(, "Ctrl-Click for Multi-Select")
astrFiles = Split(strFiles, vbNullChar)

part of the code is returning the file names, plus a whole series of null
values?

Here is the entire code that i am using.

And the answer is...

For anyone else who needs this function the fix is very simple, the trimnull
function is missing from the GetOpenFileMulti function. Add the follwoing

If Not IsNull(varFileName) Then 'added
varFileName = TrimNull(varFileName) 'added
End If 'added

just before the last line of code (shown below) in the function

GetOpenFileMulti = varFileName

hope this helps someone else!

Just as a note, in the code I originally posted, the TrimNull function
was being called by the ahtCommonFileOpenSave function.

Unfortunately, the TrimNull function in Ken's code doesn't work with
multi-select dialog boxes. That's because it trims at the first Null
character it finds, and what's returned when you multi-select is
folder~file1~file2~file3~~ (where <> represents the Null character). The
"secret"? Change

intPos = InStr(strItem, vbNullChar)

to

intPos = InStr(strItem, vbNullChar & vbNullChar)

(Note: that will work for single-select as well)

That change was in the version of the TrimNull function that I posted.

Sorry about that: your contribution to the thread didn't actually show up in
what I was looking at.

Obviously there was no need for me to intervene!

It's all harking back to an AccessMonster reproduction of a thread from
m.p.a.modulesdaovba that took place back in August of 2005. That's
where Daniel got the code he was trying to make work, but apparently he
didn't copy all the code I posted in that thread.
