Multi-processor question

Steve

I am thinking about building up a dual processor p3
system, have the board and 1 p3 chip, and am just curious
if anyone can answer this question.

Does the core stepping on the P3 processors have to be
the same?

Same stepping, same speed, same cache. And same chip package.. you cant put
a FCPGA and a Slot1 chip into the same board (even if both slots are
present). Believe it or not, i have seen that question.

Yeh, Intel would have you believe that.

I've actually used a 600 Mhz. P-III (6X100) together with an 800 Mhz. P-III
(6X133) on an ABIT VP6 board with the FSB set to 100. Rock solid stable
with WIndows 2000 Professional.
