Multi page threads

Something i have been meaning to ask for a while.

I have the forum set to 40 posts per page. When a thread reaches 41 or more posts it goes to two pages, yet when i click the page number to view the previous page it splits the thread up to 10 posts per page and loads of pages.

Anyone else get this?

The URL's are rewritten from /forums/thread-123.php to showthread.php?thread=123&perpage=10 each time, so once you click on that it will probably re-format them.
