Multi language PPT 2003?

G

Guurt

Hello All,

As we work with all English software, but sometimes make screendumps for
other language (Dutch) I tried to install the Dutch version of PowerPoint
2003 (PPT only, not all Office) next to the English, but it seems not to
work out!? I have created a non default folder (OfficeNL) to install to, but
when I start the PowerPoint file it appears all as the UK version? But when
I mouse over the new created PowerPoint quickstart button in the programs
list, it shows a yellow tag info in Dutch! So, it has installed some dutch
software on the machine. I hope it is more than just the yellow tag info,
but I seem not to be able to get it started...

With PPT97 there never was a problem installing multi versions on 1 compu...

Anyone any idea?

Thanx

Guurt

Hi Guurt,

I don't think MS intended for us to have multiple language versions on the same
PC. I'm a bit vague about all of this but it seems that there are language
packs for Office. I wonder whether it'd work to install one of those and set
your Windows regional settings to Dutch as well. I don't know whether that
would change your menu/toolbar language, though.

If you have to do this often, a simpler solution might be to install Virtual PC
(or VMWare) and install Dutch Windows and Dutch Office into a virtual machine.

I've had to develop/test in Japanese Windows/Office and this has worked out
very well for that.
