I have a server runing windows 2000 adv. Have 3 network
cards installed. The problem am having is after i restart
the server only one NIC retains its static ip address the
other NICs loses their ip and defaults to dhcp. I have
tried re-installing OS, but same problem. Has anyone
experienced this problem? or anyone helps me with issue.
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks

How are you setting the static addresses?

In the NICs' properties->networking-TCP/IP->properties
make sure "obtain an IP adress automatically" is not
selected. Check this for both offending NICs.

Thanks, Matt. NICs' properties->networking-TCP/IP-
properties "obtain an IP adress automatically" is not
selected. I Manually enter static ip on both NICS, but
once i reboot the server only one of them will have the
ip, and the other is set obtain an IP adress
automatically. Strange haaa

Sounds like something is overwriting your changes. If worse comes
to worse, you can reserve an IP address through DHCP to make sure
that your NICs get the right IP.

You might check any scripts or processes run at shutdown or
startup. Anything odd in the output of an "ipconfig /all"?

Thanks, there is nothing out of the ordinary running in
the background. The fun part is this server is the
dhcp/dns server.
