multi filtering based on list boxes

I have finally managed to filter based on list box selection, but is there a
way to "compound filter"? I have an address lookup form with list boxes for
location (3 options)department (6 options) and surname. Clicking on surname
goes to the person record, but if it can be done I would like to be able to
select location and have that filter the departments and surnames field, then
click department to narrow to surnames in that department etc - or be able to
go to a department to filter the surnames directly?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've been banging my head on this
for 2 days so far!

hi,
I'm having a little difficulty understanding but i think
you are talking about what i know as cascading combos or
determing the contents of a combo box based on the
selection in another combo box. should work for list boxes.
