Hi,

With a UNIX system and Linux, it is possible to have more then one desktop
available. In windows XP, it will be useful because I could (for example)
open Word in one "desktop", excel in another "desktop"... and other programs
in another "desktop".

Questions: Is it possible, like in the UNIX system and my LINUX Red Hat
system, to display more then one desktop? If it's possible, can you show me
how?

Thanks you very much.

Yep, there are many solutions for it.
MS Powertoys has one Virtual Desktop thinghy, I personally don't like that
much.
I much prefer Dexpot (http://www.dexpot.de/en/index2.html), highly
configurable and free as well.
Check it out.

PS. I have no relation with them. :-))

nvidia and ati also have their own versions of multi desktop apps.
