MSSPC.ECF Error still a problem

When are you guys going to find us a fix that works? I have tried everything
I can find and nothing works. Seems lots of folks are having the same
problem and no one has yet to find a fix (or post that they found one).

Who has figured this one out?

My customer was attempting to send a scan from the HP Director software to
Outlook with the "Create E-mail" button when the error occured (which she had
done many times before). I have even uninstalled the hp software, tried
deleting the registry entries related to the .ecf file and the .dll to go
with it, repairing and/or uninstall and reinstall Outlook, choosing not to
install with the Schedule+ features and all with no effect.

Will someone Please help us?

Please don't respond with the links to the KB articles, as I said, I've
tried ALL that already.

No need to rant; leave that for your personal blog. People who answer here
are not employed by Microsoft and answer in their own time. If free support
isn't good enough for you and you want dedicated follow up on your issue
contact Microsoft Support instead.

Anyway, you're leaving out important details like version of Outlook, type
of account and when exactly it happens; steps to reproduce. Is this
everytime Outlook starts, when she presses the HP button or every 5 seconds?
Also does this issue occur only for her or to everyone who logs on to that
computer?

It helps telling us the KB articles and methods you used as well. Simply
saying "I've tried everything" kinda negates the reason while you are asking
us for a fix as we are not the ones who are fixing bugs.

The version of HP software and when it was last updated is also helpful...

All right, I think I've figured out something. I had a client bring in
a unit with this same problem a few days ago, and I solved the problem
by doing the following:

Browse to the Microsoft Office 2003 installation folder (typically
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11) and right-click the actual
Outlook executable (OUTLOOK.exe). Select "Properties" and then click
the "Compatibility" tab. Make sure everything is unchecked and the
application is running normally.

On my client's computer, the program was forcing a resolution change,
so I suspected it was something related to compatibility. I'm guessing
the Windows 95 presets broke long file names, so that's why it couldn't
load the configuration file.

Hope that works.
