Hi

I want to create my own picture to display in msn. What
is the optimun size image to create. Could you also tell
me where the built in images are stored. i can then get
the sizes from them.

Thanks

Nick

Greetings Nick,

They're actually 96x96.

They're stored in \Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN
Messenger\anumber\UserTile

Where username is your Windows' username and anumber is a random number. They're also stored
as .DATs in this folder, but they are really PNG files.

They are stored dependent on your username. In XP for example here...
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN
Messenger\%number%\UserTile

They are stored here with a .DAT extension, but they are simply .PNG (PING)
graphics files. To edit all you have to do is change the file extension.

Microsoft's files are 96 x 96 pixels (at least some of them), and for
obvious reasons they suggest you use a square image.

Oops, sorry Jon! I'm in a newsgroup frenzy today, but I'll wait a little
longer before replying in future :-)

The shame!
Just kidding, it's actually amusing that we both game him almost
identical information at the same time =)

Aaaaaah, great minds think alike 'n all that ;-)
