msn messenger and sound drivers

I updated my sound drivers. As soon as I did that and rebooted, MSN
Messenger (6.1) would not let me log in. It's definitely related, but I
don't know what to do about it. I had just been connected moments before
the update. Nothing wrong with my internet connection. Other communication
programs are working fine.

What's the exact error message that you're receiving (including errorcode like 0x8000301)?
