msinfo

Hi all,

I get this message when I run msinfo in a dell dimension 4550, 1.8 Ghz, 640
Mb and win xp sp1 home:

"Cannot collect information
Cannot access the windows management instrumentation software. Windows
management files maybe moved or missing"

just wondering if there is anyway to reinstall or repair/extract msinfo from
win xp sp1 home original cd?(in-place reinstallation of windows xp did not
help)

and system file checker does not find any corrupted files, but attemting to
open msinfo.htm with microsoft word results this error:

"missing file C:\css\pchealth.css" and there is nothing about this file on
the net.

I would appreciate any comments on this.

thanks in advance

Try typing MSINFO32 instead.

Open Help and Support in the Start menu, then type in the search box "System Information" (no quotes), then in the left column under "Pick a task" click on the link "get inforamtion about your computer".

In the main window, you should see five links, and the top four give varying degrees of system information according to what criteria you want to see. the fifth link (which is essentially all the top four are combined), is the same as msinfo, try that one. In any event, the top four should give you something you need to know.

If you want to try something further, go here, and scroll down to the section "Can't Open Msinfo32", and see if any of the suggestions help;
