Your board wont take that cpu, of course it has a jumper to clear cmos. look

ok, found the jumper.
I put it in clear position while unplugged; then I put it back
now im wondering if im supposed to try and boot while in clear position
(but i haven't done that)

the board specs claims it will support 533 on fsb, same as processor.

You must be referring to the 345 part / not sure what that is right
off.

for your convenience if you have other thoughts (I hope you do)..

it is celeron 345 3.06ghz - 533fsb

wow, i am bafffled.

ive taken everything out, except for processor, heatsink and ram.
still nothing.

I've changed powersupply, still nothing.

im using onboard video

i even tried very similiar mobo with p4 2.4ghz (400fsb)
no go

Thank You

I get zero beeps...none...

from either mobo

i have just orderd two new power supplies

they tell me, I should never get below 450 PS

and that PS cannot fry the Mobo, it just throws it back to supply..no
problem

im convinced that both mobos are fine, I have also changed the ram to
match the board specs.

Thanks

???

This is the kind of thing that always happens to me, too, and it
drives me nuts.

Is it the board or the CPU that you can't make work at this point?

Charlie

right.

It dawned on me that it wasnt even beeping.

when I built this machine, it ran on the first pass...
ive only taken the cover off to put new parts in
i just never looked back you know...
i was happy.

I slapped some new memory in there, 1gb, and KABOOM

power failure...I can't even get the beeps...
and of course there is a long list of what the different beeps mean
depending on the board.

two for yes, one for no...just kidding...
the lights also give a lot of info, about the state of the unit.

yeah...Im ordering two new power supplies 20 bucks ea

oh yeah

Thanks.

Dude

new development!

I took the mobo out the case, set it on non conductive surfac3

it posted the bios! wooooo hooooo!

now, the new mystery, how come the board works outside the case

are there any common places a board can ground itself to the case
or possibly through a device, or improperly grounded PS?

any thoughts are appreciated

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

HOO!

I'm glad it's working. I've had the exact same thing happen, and I
never did figure out why. I ended up fixing the case with a piece of
cardboard.
