I'm not a techie, but have looked everywhere, I think, to try to resolve my problem. Access violation in Windows 2000Professional when working with email. Problem in module mshtml.dll. So I went to Microsoft site and downloaded mshtml.dll (they seem to recognize the problem). I restarted computer but have the same problem. When I click on the newly-downloaded mshtml.dll it says I need service Pack 6.1 which I have (and confirmed through the MS site through Update). I am at a loss as to what to do now. Can anyone help, please?

Leave the mshtml.dll alone that you have. I believe you are using IE 6 for it is in that browser where this issue rears its ugly head head most often. Install the October 2003 cumulative update for IE 6. Then do this:

Start | Run | regsvr32 /u thumbvw.dll | OK | OK.

Work with that for a bit and tell me if the issue reoccurs.
