Mike

Just installed Win XP Pro. If I setup any normal (restricted) account, I get
the message from SCMAN "Access is denied" then "Can't open Service control
manager". The message comes up right after logging on. It NEVER comes up
when an Administrator logs on. Any ideas how to get rid of this message?

Watcha!

My guess is that you can disable SCMAN.EXE from starting up so go to
Start>Run and then type in msconfig and press Enter. Go to the Startup tab
and in the list you will probably find SCMAN listed - untick it and click
OK. Unless of course you know that you need the program! I Seem to
remember something about a command line service manager, anyway over to
you...

Jaybee :-)

I'm guessing you have an Asus video card?
If so, go to msconfig, then to 'startup' tab,
and try unchecking the 'anvshell.exe' startup item.
Then reboot.

Sincerely,
Paul Rubin
