Hi,

My original problem is the Norton Antivirus Program won't
enable to Autoprotect. I ran a microsoft program to
figure out why and it came up with the Registry Keys
missing or being corrupted. So then I found out that I
would have to do these certain steps to hopefully put it
back to where it should be. The first step is to go to
the Start Button > Run > and type in "msconfig" I've
done this but when I press okay it tells me that there's
restrictions on this computer and I can't go any
further. I thought this might be an administrator
problem but I'm the administrator and it's a home
computer. I'm not a very technical person (I usually
just use computers), but I guess I need to start becoming
one. So in other words I'm very ignorant on what the
restrictions might be. Please Help!

From your description, I would say that your computer is infected with
one or more viruses. You can try running a standalone antivirus program
like Stinger, which looks for about 30 of the most common viruses. Run
it in Safe Mode. You can get Stinger here:

Otherwise, seeing as you are not a technical person, take the machine to
a good local computer repair shop (not a Best Buy or CompUSA type of
store) and have them fix it.
