Msconfig startup programs clutter problem

I turn off a lot of the startup programs to save startup loading time,
however there is a problem. It is also found in XP as well. Once you un-click
the checkbox for a startup program, it works. However, if you uninstall the
program, the program still stays evident in the startup box (msconfig). This
leads to a lot of clutter since useless lines take up space and don't
contribute to anything. If there was an option to cleanup this list, this
would be appreciated.

Hi,

While it would be nice, currently the only way to remove those dead entries
is by editing the registry. You will find them as string values under this
key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig
